Casino is the Cuban style of dancing Salsa. It is a circular dance and not a linear dance like LA (Los Angeles) and NY (New York) Salsa. What this means is that both partners continually change positions while moving in a circular pattern around one another. Another unique characteristic is how the man's lead comes immediately on count 1 forcing both himself and his follower into a natural paired circular motion. The follower does a lot of walking in Casino and performs turns by walking and not spinning. The man leads in a more free and open position but remains in total control throughout the entire 8 counts. An advantage of Casino is that it gives a lot of freedom to the dancers to perform body movement, footwork and complex variations.
